A mother of four children, and grandmother to thirteen, Vicki has previously worked in accounting, bookkeeping and has had her own business. While she had a wealth of experience, she needed culturally appropriate mentoring and further training to secure long-term employment that would allow her to continue supporting her family. After a few life-changing events she felt like taking on a new career path.
Vicki is now employed as an Aboriginal Care Worker, working in the community and caring for our Elders. She has overcome many obstacles and barriers to achieve her goals and we wish her every success in her new role.
Vicki participated in a local Real Futures Mob Day in October 2020. Real Futures then supported her by:
- interview training
- facilitating foundation skills training
- connecting her with training to obtain a Certificate III in Individual Support
- providing guidance with job applications, and helping with onboarding.
