JOB seekers are gaining valuable work experience while helping to restore historic buildings on Nobbys headland.
Twelve job seekers, who are registered with the Jobfind Centre, have been lending a hand to professional tradesmen at the site since March.
The three lighthouse-keeper cottages are being cleaned, sanded, repaired and repainted, while the kitchens, toilets, bathrooms, fixtures and furnishings are being rejuvenated.
A master builder, painter and a plasterer are among those who have been supervising the work.
“The results so far have been overwhelming,” Jobfind area manager Grahame Irwin said.
“They’re all doing great work and some have already been offered paid positions once they finish up later in the year.”
