Read the below article featured in the Maitland Mercury about Jobfind job seeker Rebecca who has found employment through the Hunter Jobs program!
Twice made redundant in the solar industry, Rebecca Daniels was out of work for a year and a half.
“It’s been very difficult with three children after their dad died in 2007, so it has been a struggle.”
Ms Daniels is the first job seeker to gain employment through the Hunter Jobs program that links local businesses across the Hunter with employment service providers.
Each provider is given the opportunity to submit one job seeker resume for the employer’s vacancy, ensuring the most suitable candidates are put forward for the position.
The first vacancy to come through to Hunter Jobs was a part-time administrative role at Advisers to Growing Business in Maitland.
Jobfind’s candidate, Ms Daniels, who had completed a Certificate III in Business Administration and with previous administrative experience, was referred to the vacancy and landed the role.
She had struggled to find a job since July 2013 when she was made redundant from her second job in the solar industry.
“I love my job,” Ms Daniels said.
“The process was really easy and …saved a heap of time,” Advisers to Growing Business director David Perrott.
“Any concerns of a free service were negated by the [Hunter Jobs program] structure and process that the best person is put forward, and the outcome for the employer is really positive.”
Jobfind Centre, BreakThru, atWork Australia, Castle Personnel, Joblink Plus, Mai-Wel Labour Force Solutions, ORS Group, Mission Australia and Salvation Army Employment Plus are employment service providers involved in the program.
