Brett landed a new job at JAX Tyres in September this year.
Brett Reynolds came to Jobfind Taree in late 2013, looking to get back into the tyre industry.
After being made redundant, following the closure of UGL’s local plant, Brett was unsure on how best to update his resume or prepare for job interviews.
Brett looked to Jobfind for help with making his applications stand out to prospective employers, and polishing up his interview techniques so that he could land a new job.
Brett seized every opportunity to improve his skills and find work by regularly attending meetings with his Jobfind consultant, undertaking a LearnNow training course on job searching, participating in group job search sessions and engaging in mock interviews at the Jobfind centre.
In September 2014, JAX Tyres opened its new store in Taree and were looking for an experienced tyre fitter.
They reached out to Jobfind to assist them with finding candidates with the right skill set for the role.
Having previously worked in the industry, Brett had all the required skills for the position and a can-do attitude, making him the ideal candidate to be put forward for the role by his Jobfind consultant. JAX Tyres agreed, offering Brett an interview.
The determination to work, the knowledge and experience Brett demonstrated during his meeting, using his refined interview skills, convinced JAX tyres that he was the perfect match for the position.
With Brett aged over 50, Jobfind also leveraged the Government’s Restart programme, which supports employers to hire and retain eligible job seekers who are 50 years or over.
JAX Tyres were pleased to receive the support of the Restart program when hiring Brett, as they are just setting up in Taree, and this provided them with some breathing space.
To help him smoothly transition into his new job, JAX Tyres also facilitated for Brett to receive some retraining to get him up to speed with new industry developments, having not worked in the tyre trade since 2006.
Brett started work on September 1 this year and is pleased to have achieved his goal of restarting his career with the support of Jobfind.
